Specific Reef Fish Regulations:

Amberjack, Greater – p l X

  • Minimum Size: 28" fork length in Atlantic, 34" fork length in Gulf.
  • Season: Atlantic open Jan. 1–March 31 & May 1–Dec. 31. Gulf open Aug. 1–Oct. 31.
  • Bag Limit: 1 per harvester per day in both Atlantic and Gulf.

Tilefish, Blueline – p l

  • Bag Limit: 3 per harvester in Atlantic, 100 lbs. or 2 per harvester in Gulf.
  • Season: Atlantic open May 1–Aug. 31. Gulf open year-round.
  • Remarks: Included within Atlantic grouper aggregate bag limits.

Great Barracuda – n

  • Minimum Size: Not less than 15" or more than 36" fork length.
  • Bag Limit: 2 per person or 6 per vessel. May possess one over 36" per vessel.
  • Region: Regulations apply in select counties.

Hogfish – p l X

  • Minimum Size: 16" fork length in Atlantic, 14" fork length in Gulf.
  • Season: Atlantic open May 1–Oct. 31. Gulf open year-round.
  • Bag Limit: 1 per harvester in Atlantic, 5 per harvester in Gulf.

Triggerfish (Gray) – p l X

  • Minimum Size: 12" fork length in Atlantic, 15" fork length in Gulf.
  • Season: Atlantic open year-round. Gulf open March 1–May 31, Aug. 1–Dec. 31.
  • Bag Limit: 10 per harvester in Atlantic, 1 per harvester in Gulf.

Red Porgy – p u l

  • Minimum Size: 14" in Atlantic. No minimum size in Gulf.
  • Season: Atlantic open May 1–June 30. No closed season in Gulf.
  • Bag Limit: 1 per harvester in Atlantic, 100 pounds in Gulf.

Tilefish, Golden – p l

  • Bag Limit: 1 per harvester in Atlantic, 100 pounds or 2 per person in Gulf.
  • Remarks: Included within Atlantic Grouper aggregate bag limits.

Amberjack, Lesser & Banded Rudderfish – p l X

  • Minimum Size: 14" to 22" fork length for both species in Atlantic and Gulf.
  • Bag Limit: 5 per harvester aggregate of the two species in both Atlantic and Gulf.

Black Sea Bass – p u l

  • Minimum Size: 13" in Atlantic, 10" in Gulf.
  • Bag Limit: 7 per harvester in Atlantic, 100 pounds per harvester in Gulf.

Pompano, African – l « p T n

  • Minimum Size: 24" fork length.
  • Bag Limit: 2 per harvester per day, not to exceed 2 per vessel.
