Georgia Dove Hunt Information and Regulations

Quota Dove Hunts

To participate in dove hunts designated as quota, hunters are required to apply for and be selected through the quota hunt process. Details for quotas, applications, and selection criteria can be found under the section labeled Quota Hunts.

Youth Dove Hunts

Special dove hunt opportunities are available for youth hunters. Guidelines and scheduling for these events are provided in the Youth Hunts section.

WMA Dove Hunt Dates and Quotas

Here is a selection of Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) with their respective dove hunt dates and quotas:

  • Alapaha WMA: Quota of 50 (Q50) for Sept. 2, following WMA Regulations A-C.
  • Albany Nursery WMA: Quota of 35 (Q35) for Sept. 2, adhering to WMA Regulations A-C.
  • Alexander WMA: Quota of 50 (Q50) for Sept. 2, with WMA Regulations A-C in effect.

Additional WMAs and Voluntary Public Access (VPA) areas host dove hunts with various dates and regulations:

  • Appling County Dove Field VPA: September 9 and 16, following Voluntary Public Access Opportunities.
  • Blanton Creek WMA: Quota of 75 (Q75) for Sept. 2 and 9, complying with WMA Regulations A-C.
  • Chickasawhatchee WMA: Quota of 40 (Q40) for Sept. 2, subject to WMA Regulations A-C.
  • Clarks Hill WMA: Quota of 60 (Q60) for Sept. 2, under WMA Regulations A-C.
  • Clybel WMA: Quota of 200 (Q200) for Sept. 2, in agreement with WMA Regulations A-C.

For WMAs with WMA Regulations designated D-H:

  • Dawson Forest WMA: Quota of 40 (Q40) for Sept. 2.

For WMAs with WMA Regulations designated I-P, such as:

  • J. L. Lester WMA: Open hunts on Sept. 16, 23, 30.
  • London Farms VPA: Quota of 30 (Q30) for Sept. 2 and 9.
  • Oconee WMA: Quota of 60 (Q60) for Sept. 2.

WMAs with WMA Regulations designated Q-S include:

  • River Bend WMA: Quota of 30 (Q30) for Sept. 2.
  • Rum Creek WMA: Quota of 75 (Q75) for Sept. 2 and 9.

Complying with Regulations

Hunters are responsible for obtaining the necessary permits, following all hunting regulations, and understanding the quotas and dates applicable to their chosen hunt area. Compliance ensures a safe, ethical, and regulated hunting experience.

Georgia H C Specialty Hunts for Designated Groups

Specialty Hunt Eligibility and Procedure

H C Specialty Hunts are exclusively available to the following persons:

  • Youth (16 years and younger)
  • Ladies
  • Disability License holders
  • Returning Georgia Veterans
  • Honorary License holders
  • Senior hunters over the age of 65 These hunts typically require sign-in and are not quota hunts unless indicated with a "Q" next to the dates.

An array of Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), park-sponsored hunts, and Voluntary Public Access (VPA) areas offer Specialty Hunts with designated dates:

  • Allatoona WMA: Deer/Bear hunt on Oct. 21-22.

  • Berry College WMA: Deer/Bear hunt on Jan. 6-7.
  • Big Lazer Creek WMA: Deer hunt (Quota) from Nov. 17-19.
  • Blanton Creek WMA: Deer hunt (Quota) on Oct. 7-8.
  • Bullard Creek WMA: Deer hunt from Oct. 27-29.
  • Cedar Creek WMA: Deer hunt from Nov. 21-26.
  • Clybel WMA: Deer hunt from Nov. 21-26.
  • Coosawattee WMA: Deer/Bear hunt on Oct. 20-22.
  • Crockford-Pigeon Mtn WMA: Deer/Bear hunt on Oct. 21-22.
