Notes and Adaptations

  • Season Dates and WMDs: Moose hunting season dates and WMD designations are subject to change, and hunters are advised to verify the information each season.
  • Hunters with 4A Permits: If a permittee in WMD 4A does not successfully harvest a moose during their first permitted week, they are allowed to hunt again in their zone from November 6 to November 11, 2023.

The framework for moose hunting in Maine is structured through specific periods and designated WMDs with limited entry through a permit-only system. These guidelines are established to ensure sustainable hunting practices and the effective management of the moose population. Hunters are encouraged to frequently check for updates and comply with all regulations during their hunting activities.
