Youth Waterfowl Hunt

Northeast Zone

Season Dates: September 16 & 17, 2023

Daily Limits/Possession: Daily bag limit is the same as that for the general season for ducks, mergansers, geese, swans, coots, and gallinules. Limits singly or in the aggregate for Canada geese and Brant. Limits singly or in the aggregate for Snow and Ross’ geese. Ruby Valley within Elko and White Pine counties is closed to hunting for Snow and Ross’ geese.

Hunting Hours: 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset.

Special Regulations and Information:

  • Open to hunters 17 years of age or younger.
  • Youth hunters 16 years of age and older must possess a Federal duck stamp.
  • Youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old. Adults are not allowed to hunt during this season.
  • Youth hunters possessing a valid Nevada Swan Permit may hunt swans in open areas, provided the trumpeter swan quota has not been reached.
  • Open to nonresidents.

Northwest Zone

Season Dates: September 30, 2023, & February 10, 2024

South Zone (to include the Moapa Valley portion of the Overton WMA)

Season Dates: February 10 & 11, 2024

Moapa Valley portion of the Overton WMA

Season Dates: October 21, 2023

Note: It is unlawful for any child who is younger than 18 to hunt any wildlife with any firearm, unless the child is accompanied at all times by the child’s parent or guardian or is accompanied at all times by an adult person authorized by the child’s parent or guardian to have control or custody of the child to hunt if the authorized person is also licensed to hunt.

Ducks and Mergansers (Excluding Scaup)

Northeast Zone

Season Dates:

  • September 23, 2023 - November 28, 2023
  • December 9, 2023 - January 15, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 7/21* (including specified limits for various species)

Hunting Hours: 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset.

Northwest Zone

Season Dates:

  • October 14, 2023 - January 7, 2024
  • January 10, 2024 - January 28, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 7/21* (including specified limits for various species)

South Zone (Except the Moapa Valley)

Season Dates:

  • October 14, 2023 - October 22, 2023
  • October 25, 2023 - January 28, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 7/21* (including specified limits for various species)

South Zone – Moapa Valley to the confluence of the Muddy and Virgin Rivers

Season Dates: October 28, 2023 - January 28, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 7/21* (including specified limits for various species)

Scaup (Lesser and Greater)

Northeast Zone

Daily Limits/Possession: 2/6* (included within general duck limit, not in addition to)

Canada Geese and Brant

Northeast Zone

Season Dates:

  • September 23, 2023 - November 28, 2023
  • December 9, 2023 - January 15, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 5/15

White-Fronted Geese

Northeast Zone

Season Dates:

  • September 23, 2023 - November 28, 2023
  • December 9, 2023 - January 15, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 10/30

Snow and Ross’ Geese

Northeast Zone

Season Dates:

  • September 23, 2023 - November 28, 2023
  • December 9, 2023 - January 15, 2024

Daily Limits/Possession: 20/60
