North Dakota Deer Season

Residents and non-residents have various opportunities during the ND deer hunting season in 2023. The season covers hunting for Deer, Mule Deer, and White-tailed deer, including the following segments:

Youth Season

  • Start Date: 15-Sep-23
  • End Date: 24-Sep-23

The season kicks off with the Youth season in September.

Bow Season

  • Start Date: 1-Sep-23
  • End Date: 7-Jan-24

Bow season, which allows hunting for Deer, Mule Deer, and White-tailed deer, extends from September to January.

Regular Season

  • Start Date: 10-Nov-23
  • End Date: 26-Nov-23

The regular season for deer hunting begins in November.

Muzzleloader Season

  • Start Date: 1-Dec-23
  • End Date: 17-Dec-23

Muzzleloader season provides another opportunity for hunters in December.

Bag Limitations

During the regular season, hunters are limited to taking one buck and two antlerless deer. In contrast, during the muzzleloader season, they may only take one buck.

Before hunting, hunters must obtain certain tags.

There are various lottery types for deer hunting in North Dakota in 2023:

Gun Seasons

  • Application Period: Early May
  • Eligibility Requirements: Open to all hunters
  • Donation Requirement: N/A

Nonresident Any Deer Archery

  • Application Period: March 15 - April 15
  • Eligibility Requirements: Open to nonresident hunters
  • Donation Requirement: N/A

Special Allocation (Eligible Orgs)

  • Application Period: October 1 - January 1
  • Eligibility Requirements: Eligible organizations must be exempt from federal income taxation
  • Donation Requirement: 10% of net proceeds to conservation-related projects

Nonprofit Organizations (Big Game)

  • Application Period: October 1 - January 1
  • Eligibility Requirements: Nonprofit organizations eligible for big game hunting licenses
  • Donation Requirement: N/A
