Waterfowl and Migratory Bird Hunting Seasons and Limits in Oklahoma

Here are the hunting seasons and daily limits for various waterfowl and migratory bird species in Oklahoma:

September Teal

  • Dates & Open Areas: Sept. 9-24; statewide.
  • Daily Limit: Six

White-Fronted Geese

  • Dates & Open Areas: Nov. 4-26 & Dec. 2, 2023 - Feb. 4, 2024; statewide.
  • Daily Limit: Two

Dark Geese (all geese, except White-Fronted and Light Geese)

  • Dates & Open Areas: Nov. 4-26 & Dec. 2, 2023 - Feb. 11, 2024; statewide.
  • Daily Limit: Eight

Conservation Order Light Goose Season (COLGS)

  • Light Goose
  • Dates & Open Areas: Feb. 13 - March 30; statewide.
  • Limit: There is no daily or possession limit.

Special Provisions:

  • Electronic calls allowed
  • Unplugged shotguns allowed
  • Shooting hours extended to one-half hour after sunset
  • No daily or possession limits

This season is designed to increase harvest and reduce the population of mid-continent light geese (snow, blue & Ross’). All other waterfowl regulations apply, including the use of federally approved nontoxic shot. Hunters must have the necessary licenses, waterfowl stamps, and a Harvest Information Program (HIP) permit.

Federal regulation requires an estimate of the COLGS light goose harvest. Hunters must register for a harvest survey online at wildlifedepartment.com to participate in COLGS.

Special Resident Canada Goose

Sandhill Cranes

  • Daily Limit: Three
  • Sandhill Crane Permit Required. See Special Licenses & Permits for full information on this permit.

Light Geese (Snow, Blue & Ross)
